Believe it or not, what follows is not an ad. Lit Sugar is not affiliated with the products listed – no one who knows me would think of me as an influencer.
That said, I am weirdly obsessed with my hair. I was lucky to get a combo of my mom’s and my grandma’s, it’s not thick but there’s a LOT of it. For the most part it does what I ask it to do, and when it’s vibing with me, we bounce around all day feeling like Jennifer Aniston’s twin LOL. Other days, it plays nicely with hats – such is life.
And I can’t seem to stop futzing with it – always looking for the one product that will take it from good to great. As soon as I find something that works perfectly fine, I am ready to upgrade. So on my latest upgrade I found California Naturals and I’m in love!
Great backstory – the founder of Playa Hair Products (prestige hair products) Shelby Wild left that company when it was bought out in 2020. Since then she has started a family and really wanted to create high quality products at a price point entire families could afford – yep looking at you spouses and kids who steal mom’s expensive hair products. Read more about her in this article from Glossy.
On top of that it’s a fun website, she’s captured a very California vibe complete with surfing and yoga classes, a magazine with everything from what sulfates are to a guide to a great trip to Joshua Tree, and of course yummy products. Everything is cruelty free, ocean and reef safe, gluten free, vegan, 90%+ naturally derived, color safe, recycled packaging, all the things. Even better is the fact that everything is $10 or less – right? $10.00!
So I grabbed the bundle pictured up top for LESS than $46 with shipping and handling. I was skeptical but excited too – I just vibed hard with the website and got that feeling in my gut that I was onto something. Fast forward 5-7 business days and I had the products in my hot little hands.
The smell caught me first – fresh, clean, beautiful without being heavy. It did remind me of being out on the ocean off the coast of Malibu. Meaning it was all the laid back natural things but somehow still smelled expensive. And the smell carried with me all day. Not in an overwhelming way, more like I’d get a whiff of it when the wind blew – I know you may be rolling your eyes right now but just go with me (for under $10/bottle you can afford to be adventurous).
I loved the smell so much that I put a little shampoo in my bath the other night. Afterwards I checked and saw they offer body wash and lotion, both of which went in my cart immediately.
My hair has been soft, shiny, bouncy and manageable (pretty much all I could hope for). I’ll know more when I completely finish the bottles (they’re a great size) but for now it looks like my hats are going to get a rest.
And truly, check out their website – it is really fun, informative and even has a couple short yoga classes to stream. Oh I almost forgot – you can win a Bronco too! Here’s wishing you happy hair days!
