Looking for a little slice of paradise? Check out Padaro Beach in Carpenteria, CA. Also known as Santa Claus Beach, this place is truly a gift! The water goes from azure to almost turquoise, with soft sand for playing games or strolling the shore. The visitors seemed to be a great mix of families, young adults, and even some friendly doggos!
We played in the waves, watched a dad teach his kids how to surf, strolled a bit and just sat back and soaked up some of the sunshine. When it was time to nosh, the Padaro Beach Grill did NOT disappoint!
There is a wide range of food, I can’t really think of anyone who couldn’t find something they like here – and I look at that a lot because between my food allergies (and general pickiness) and my kids’ incredible pickiness, it is always on my radar.
The set up is my favorite part though – you order inside and then you can pick if you want to sit in the restaurant, on the covered patio, at a covered table or an open picnic table. We sat at a picnic table and had a great time chatting with the family at the other end. There is also a great area for kids to play while waiting for their food or waiting for the grown ups to finish!
Right next store is A-Frame Surf which was so fun to shop. From surf gear to adorable hats, stickers, clothes and more it’s an adorable shop and was a great way to finish up the day. If you are more adventurous, they also offer rentals, lessons and camps.
Hopping back on the 101 North, we were back to Santa Barbara in 15 minutes.
