Resolving Resolutions

Do you do resolutions for the New Year? I can’t seem to make up my mind about them. I like goals and think it’s important to have an idea of where you want to be in your life AND I have commitment issues with rules.

There is no half-way for me in most things. I am a bit commitment shy but once I commit, if I have to miss a time or two I will feel like a failure and that I’ve let people down. Not super motivating and not a lot gets accomplished.

My solution? I’ve come up with a “plan” for 2023 – I have zero problem changing plans, in fact my most favorite times usually are when plans get canceled or morph into something totally different (big jam band fan here). I know it’s just verbiage but I also know how much words can matter to me. I believe that what you put out into the world becomes your world. So this year my plan will be to continue learning and improving my world in any way that presents itself. I think it will help me find a balance between goals and roadblocks.

So if you find yourself conflicted by resolutions, or any improvement really, maybe try changing the phrasing. When you look at things from different perspectives it can help you realize that there isn’t a right way or a wrong way, just a different, maybe more interesting, way.

Here’s hoping 2023 brings us all peace and happiness, or whatever you want to call them.

Happy New Year!
