So why the name Lit Sugar? Well hopefully it’s sorta catchy? It’s supposed to be 🙂 But it really stems from my original hopes for this site – to be sweet and kind – qualities that mean so much to me and that I strive for every day. And also to start something – to light a spark, a conversation, a community where we can grow and learn together toward a higher plane of existence.

I believe the world is opening up to a new level of consciousness. We’re always evolving, always have been. But with the birth of technological advances moving at lightning speed it’s become easier to see the shifts as they happen.

And change can be scary. It’s called a comfort zone for a reason. And when change comes at us so quickly it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and just grab on to the closest thing we can find that seems even somewhat stable.

And that’s when they get you. Who’s they? I have no idea; negative thoughts, power hungry humans, fear – all the things that make us feel less than and submissive. Anyone or anything that makes us feel silly or trite for taking time to make decisions about how we feel instead of jumping on the fastest bandwagon. You know what I mean, I know you get it.

We could call it ego vs soul. Christians may like Satan vs. God. However you phrase it works for me, the point is that if we band together to figure out this changing new world; just decide we are going to be on the side of compassion and communication, offering grace to others and to ourselves, we will have power to create something beautiful. And we may even have some fun along the way!

We need to start now – things are moving quickly and it’s time for us to take back our power. So let’s ask the hard questions and sit in the icky feelings as well as the warm yummy ones together. Because in the immortal words of David Bowie: we can beat them forever and ever – we CAN be heroes.
